Several Injured as In-Flight Disturbance Strikes A Delta Airlines Flight Arriving in Sydney, Australia
Multiple passengers and crew have been injured following a Delta jet traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney experienced rough air Friday morning.
The flight, numbered 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it landed at the Sydney airport, a company official stated. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.
Emergency medical services stated they treated five patients, and transferred a trio to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that comprised pain in the back and head pain. Those affected spanned from their 30s up to the 70s.
The event represents the newest example of commercial jets being hit by turbulence, with experts saying that global warming is a significant contributor.
There were 245 people and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the Delta spokesperson added, adding that the plane touched down "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.
