In a bizarre collaboration that breaks conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal release, "A strange meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The narrative features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine sect.

The questline centers on "strange trials and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Changes

The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Material

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This release also brings the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Anime Partnerships

This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that unmistakably referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
